Many have supported the #I STAND WITH UKRAINE call and are asking how they can help.
First let me say, I never thought I’d see the worldwide support for Ukraine we see today. With many Ukrainian friends in the Capital Region and the Hudson Valley, the attack on Ukraine has impacted all of us in some way or another. I will simply say that the stories and images seen in the news, of people fleeing, fighting, and dying is only a small sample of what is really happening on the ground. Unfortunately, Ukraine has a long history of being occupied and suppressed and somehow Ukrainians always find a way to regain their freedom and independence… no matter how long it takes.
If you would like to help, there are many charities to choose from, and to be wary of. The Ukrainian community in the Capital Region has endorsed humanitarian aid, military aid and collecting material goods, and is funneling donations to partners in and around Ukraine, based on current needs on the ground in Ukraine. Monetary and material donations are being collected through the local Ukrainian churches and the local chapter of the Ukrainian Congress Committee.
