As most of you are aware, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education has determined that while Hudson Valley Community College met 13 of the 14 required Standards for Accreditation, the college has not demonstrated that it meets Standard 7, Institutional Assessment. To meet that Standard, the Commission has informed the college that it needs to develop and implement “a comprehensive, organized, and sustained process for the assessment of institutional effectiveness with evidence that results are used to improve teaching and learning.”
The Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Committee has been working on the development and implementation of the college’s Institutional Effectiveness Plan and the final draft now is available for review by members of the college community. The plan can be found on the Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Web page:www.hvcc.edu/assessment/. Select “Plans and Reports” from the menu on the left (you will be required to login if you haven’t already done so) and select “Draft Institutional Effectiveness Plan” under the Institutional Effectiveness Plan heading.
The Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Committee will be conducting open forums for the college community to explain the Institutional Effectiveness Plan and collect comments:
1st Forum — Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m.
2nd Forum — Thursday, Nov. 6 from noon to 2 p.m.
Both Forums will be held in the Multipurpose Room on the second floor of the Marvin Library.
If you cannot attend a forum and wish to comment on the Institutional Effectiveness Plan, please feel free to send an e-mail to any member of the Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Committee. (Committee members are listed in the Plan.)
