Welcome back from your friendly
Institutional Assessment Office!
It’s a new academic year and once again we’re raring to go. As always it is a busy time but invigorating as well, as students return and the campus comes alive again with the excitement of the new school year.
Assessment and Unit Plan Process
And, of course, with the new academic year comes the annual Assessment and Unit Plan Report process. Beginning the week of Sept. 6, we will be sending all department chairs and unit heads their 2016-17 assessment and planning documents. It is time again to bring the college up to date on the results of the 2015-16 Unit and Assessment Plans, make any needed changes to your 2016-2017 Plans, and prepare your 2017-2018 Plans.
Once again, the TIAP office will be offering group and one-on-one training and support sessions. We really enjoyed working with all of you last year and are looking forward to seeing you again this year as we go through the Assessment and Planning process. We found last year’s process to be a learning experience for us, as we learned more about your areas’ services and responsibilities as well the goals and objectives that guide your work. The work that everyone did last year was truly impressive and we are very happy to be a part of it.
Thank you all for your continued cooperation with and participation in the Institutional Effectiveness process. Your feedback and collaboration is invaluable to the process and to the achievement of the college’s mission and goals. We are looking forward to another eventful and successful year at Hudson Valley.
Middle States News:
As we reported early last spring, the 2016 Monitoring Report was submitted to Middle States on February 29, 2016, and made available to the campus community on the college’s portal Home Page on the Middle States News organization. The Monitoring Report contains documentation that the institution has achieved and can sustain compliance with Standard 7, Institutional Assessment. As a follow up, an Evaluation Team, comprised of two external reviewers from post-secondary institutions, our Middle States liaison officer Dr. Elly Fogarty, and Dr. Deb Moeckel, from SUNY System Administration, is expected to visit the campus early in the fall semester. As of yet we have not learned of the date of the visit but when we do we will pass it along to the campus community.
Please keep in mind that as a result of a suggestion in last year’s ‘Assessment of the Assessment and Planning Process’ the Institutional Assessment office has set up an Assessment Hotline. If you have a question, please feel free to contact us at assessment@hvcc.edu and/or 629-4557. We look forward to hearing from you!
