Introduction to OER workshop now available online

The Introduction to OER (Open Educational Resources) Workshop conducted on Feb. 27 is now available to new faculty participants in an online format. Faculty who complete the three-hour workshop are eligible for a $100 stipend while funds are available.

To participate, faculty must first complete two simple steps:

  1. Contact your department chair to obtain approval to participate.
  2. Contact Brenda Hazard (b.hazard@hvcc.edu) to determine if funding is available for new participants. You will be mailed supporting documentation.

After completing these steps, the OER Workshop streaming video may be accessed via the OER Initiative organization in Blackboard (all faculty have access). There are two portions to the workshop: view the two-hour video and then contact your liaison librarian (https://www.hvcc.edu/library/liaisons.html) to set up an appointment to complete the searching for OER portion. Appointments can be completed in person or online.

After completing the workshop, faculty may develop a proposal to adopt an OER textbook. Faculty who submit successful proposals are eligible for a $400 stipend while funds are available.

Learn more on the library’s OER subject page (https://libguides.hvcc.edu/oer) or contact Brenda Hazard with questions about the initiative.
