Greetings, Hudson Valley Community,
I’m thrilled to join you in the noble work of expanding access to the life-changing education we provide — on campus, online and throughout the region. As I begin my tenure as president, thank you for the warm welcome you’ve extended during my earlier visits and now as I settle in.
Tara and I are especially grateful to everyone who has helped us transition from the Buffalo area. Returning to Troy more than 30 years after our wedding feels like coming full circle, and we’re honored to serve the college, its students, employees and the greater community.
Although I’ve worked at institutions around the country, the Capital Region has always been home. It’s where I began my own education and launched my career. I’ve long admired Hudson Valley’s exceptional reputation, and now I’m eager to learn directly from the people who make it real each day. Your insights into the college’s strengths, challenges and opportunities are invaluable – please keep sharing your stories.
Thank you to the nearly 200 colleagues who completed the summer survey I shared. Your thoughtful feedback is already helping shape our goals and priorities.
Now that I’m on campus and living in the Foundation’s Alumni House, I’ll be meeting with colleagues across the college and launching a listening tour with regional leaders and workforce partners. I’m looking forward to learning more about our community’s needs and exploring how Hudson Valley can partner, grow and lead.
What I know already is this: when we move forward together – with trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to our mission – we don’t just succeed, we thrive. And when we thrive, so do our students.
I look forward to working with and getting to know each of you. In the meantime, if you have questions, ideas, or just want to say hello, feel free to reach out at m.brophy@hvcc.edu.
Thank you for your time, your trust and your dedication to this extraordinary college.
See you around campus!
Dr. Michael Brophy
