Kristan Pelletier to be Inducted into Capital District Basketball Hall of Fame

Kristan Pelletier, Hudson Valley’s director of athletics, will be inducted into the Capital District Basketball Hall of Fame (CDBHF) for her achievements on basketball teams at Bishop Maginn High School and The College of Saint Rose.

The 2011 Induction Ceremony will be held Sunday, June 26 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Albany.

Pelletier first made a name for herself as captain of the Bishop Maginn girls’ basketball team that won its first ever state championship in 1996, and was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. She appeared twice in the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 as a member of the Saint Rose women’s basketball team in 1997 and 1998.

“Basketball has always been an integral part of my life, whether I’m playing, coaching, overseeing, even just watching. In fact, with my three siblings also involved in the sport throughout high school and college, it’s part of my family life as well. I can’t express how honored I am to be included in the Capital District Basketball Hall of Fame, especially alongside so many other great inductees from this area,” Pelletier said.

To be considered for induction into the CDBHF, a player or individual must have played locally throughout high school and college. Sportsmanship and distinction as a player or individual are considered along with statistics and achievements. Coaches, referees and media personnel are also included.

Athletics director at Hudson Valley since 2009, Pelletier previously served as assistant athletics director and is the first female in the college’s 56-year history to hold both these positions.
