The baseball team (3-5) swept Methodist University 7-1 and 12-0 on Monday afternoon. Both games were dominated by strong pitching performances, including Bryan Lajeunesse’s (Albany Academy/Watervliet) one-hitter in the second game.
Mike Tietjen (Oneonta/Oneonta) pitched a complete-game recording nine strikeouts in the first game. Jacob DiPietro (Kingston/Kingston) led the Vikings going 3-4 from the plate with two RBIs. DiPietro went 3-4 from the plate for the second consecutive game with two RBIs and a triple. Nick Papas (Maple Hill/Casleton) went 2-4 with a double and triple, and Sean Geisel (Guilderland/Guilderland) recorded two hits and three RBIs.
The Vikings next game is a double-header against Grace today beginning at 11 a.m.
