Laptop lending service rolls out today at Marvin Library

Dwight Marvin Library rolls out its new laptop lending service on Monday, September 15. Current students and employees may borrow a laptop for three hours for use within Marvin Library Learning Commons after completing a laptop lending agreement. Thirteen laptops are available.

Laptop lending expands mobile access to library resources throughout the building, enhancing the productivity value of library spaces that otherwise offer no desktop computing. Laptops include Microsoft Office and three standard Web browsers. Users may save to a personally owned thumb drive or upload/download files to the H: drive using a convenient desktop shortcut. Printing is available using Web print service functions currently provided by ITS.

The laptop lending service extends the successful iPad lending service begun by the library three years ago. The library equipment lending policy is posted online.

This new service was made possible through the support of the Office of Planning and Research and Information Technology Services (ITS).
