Learn Plumbing Basics Through WDI Next Month

The college’s Workforce Development Institute will offer a 30-hour ‘Plumbing Basics’ course at the Educational Opportunity Center in Troy beginning Oct. 4.

The course is designed for those interested in beginning a career in the residential plumbing field and for property owners seeking to acquire the skills needed to maintain their homes or rental properties. The course will concentrate on the three main residential plumbing systems: supply systems, waste systems and vent systems. Students will work with PVC, copper and PEX pipes, and will be involved in tasks involving plumbing repairs, soldering or sweating, and new construction. Some tools are required.

The course, taught by EOC instructor Tom Glasser, is offered from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and runs through Oct. 28. The cost is $695.

To register, or for more information about this or any other Workforce Development course, contact the Workforce Development Institute at (518) 629-4235, or visit www.hvcc.edu/wdi.
