Local historian Michael Barrett will present the scandalous details of the life of Russell Sage, just in time for Sage’s birthday anniversary, at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 at the Gardner Earl Chapel in Oakwood Cemetery. The event is sponsored by Friends of Oakwood.
There’s more to the man than the college that bears his name. Come and hear “Russell Sage, The Money King” featuring tales of incredible wealth in the Gilded Age, financial manipulation of the 19th-century economic marketplace and one of the greatest stories of philanthropic retaliation in American history. Light refreshments will follow.
