This virtual session explores how generative AI, particularly ChatGPT, can enhance the creation and dissemination of Open Educational Resources (OER). Participants will learn to use AI for developing high-quality, accessible learning materials through effective prompt engineering. The presentation will address ethical considerations, including plagiarism and copyright, ensuring responsible AI use in education. Attendees will gain practical insights on supplementing existing coursework with AI-generated content, improving course iterations, and fostering inclusive learning environments. The session includes demonstrations, personal experiences, and an interactive Q&A to support implementation in various educational settings.
Presenter
Dan Barrancotta, Ed.D., is an educator and instructional designer with experience in Workforce Development, K-12 and Higher Education. Dan currently serves as an instructor at Western Governors University in the Education Technology and Instructional Design graduate program. He is also the instructor for SUNY CPD Instructional Design Certificate Program and serves as an Adjunct Instructor at SUNY Genesee CC.
Dan’s teaching philosophy is centered around transformative leadership and the belief that every learner is unique and brings valuable knowledge and experience with them that can benefit the group. He seeks to develop diverse, equitable and inclusive learning experiences that foster a classroom community where all learners can learn with and from each other to accomplish their goals and drive change in the workforce.
