The Times Union published a commentary authored by Librarian Valerie Lang Waldin on Thursday, June 9.
Waldin responded to the recent fatal clubbing of opossums in Albany county by individuals who went unpunished based on interpretation of New York law. She suggested an alternate legal interpretation that would result in more stringent penalties for animal cruelty cases in the future.
In addition to her appointment as librarian at the Dwight Marvin Library, Waldin is a lawyer and animal law instructor.
