Assistant Professors Cynthia Koman and Katie Jezik both presented at SUNYLA 2017: “The Global Library: Diversity through Collections, Spaces, & Services” at Stony Brook University earlier this month.
Jezik co-presented a pre-conference workshop entitled “Preparing for the SUNY Library Services Platform.” Jezik is a member of the SUNY Metadata Policies and Standards Committee (SMSP) and reported on the committee’s activities to assess current practices, and develop policies and standards for the library service platform that will be implemented over the next 18 months across all SUNY libraries. Jezik is one of seven committee members preparing best practices for cataloging and metadata impacting the project.
Koman presented “Being an Internship Mentor,” and described her experiences and successful practices mentoring six graduate students working towards Masters in Information Science degrees over the past three years at the Dwight Marvin Library. Koman was joined by three intern alumni, including Stephanie Clowe, recently hired as the online media specialist, who attended the conference.
