Librarians recognized for contributions to statewide online reference service

Assistant Professors Anne LaBelle and Katie Jezik, librarians at the Dwight Marvin Library, were recognized among the top 20 librarians across New York State to respond to reference questions submitted to Ask Us 24/7,  the online reference collective, in 2016.

The Ask Us 24/7 consortium includes dozens of academic and public library systems. Hudson Valley Community College librarians monitor the service four hours per week in exchange for 24/7 service as part of the cooperative arrangement. Questions may be submitted by chat interface or by text.

Hudson Valley students submitted 600 reference questions to the service during the 2015-16 academic year. LaBelle and Jezik responded to nearly 300 questions over the year. Participation in the cooperative includes responding to both Hudson Valley users, as well as students from other institutions.

Ask Us 24/7 is a joint service of the Empire State Library Network, of which the Dwight Marvin Library is a member.
