Library staff share expertise at conference

Associate Professor Sue Grayson, head of Access Services at the Dwight Marvin Library, and Senior Clerk Jennifer Acker played leadership roles at the IDS Project Project library resource sharing conference held July 26-28 at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica.

Grayson presented “Interlibrary Loan Life after the RUSA Star Survey” and described specific improvements made to interlibrary loan practices after completing a national assessment survey developed by the American Library Association’s Reference and User Services division. As statewide coordinator of member user groups, Acker convened the user group pre-conference meeting, focused on best practices and workflow optimization.

More than 130 librarians and library staff attended the Information Delivery Services Project conference, including representatives from SUNY, CUNY, and private colleges and universities from as far away as California. Grayson and Acker also served on the conference planning committee and will continue their roles for the 2018 conference at Utica College.

IDS Project member libraries are committed to “providing improvements to the entire resource sharing community through the ongoing development of innovative tools and promotion of best practices,” made evident through outstanding interlibrary loan services.
