Limited stipends remain available to support faculty OER engagement

Join nearly 200 HVCC faculty who are involved with the open educational resources (OER) initiative that has saved students more than $1 million in textbook costs. Limited funds remain available to support faculty engagement in the OER initiative: Faculty who complete the three-hour introductory workshop (online) will receive a $100 stipend. Faculty who complete the workshop and subsequently propose to adopt OER to replace a commercial textbook are eligible to receive a $400 stipend* per course.

Faculty are encouraged to review the Introduction to OER subject guide online and — because of the limited funding available — to contact Library Director Brenda Hazard, who serves as the SUNY OER institutional lead, to verify that stipends remain available. DC approval is also required.

Faculty are welcome to complete the workshop and to explore OER without stipends! 🙂

*Stipends are provided for successful proposals. The workshop provides additional details.

Please contact Brenda Hazard, online media specialist Sarah Romeo, or your liaison librarian with questions about OER.
