As you wrap up the fall semester and plan for spring classes, please consider a marvelous campus opportunity: the Dwight Marvin Library will host the traveling exhibit, “Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War,” from mid-January through February 28.
The exhibit originally was created at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. The traveling exhibit was funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, which partnered with the American Library Association to select 50 libraries across the nation to host the display. Hudson Valley Community College was one of those selected.
The official college Web page with updates and details is www.hvcc.edu/lincoln-exhibit. There will be four related presentations sponsored by the VOICES committee. These will be listed in forthcoming VOICES publicity and are listed in a brief schedule on the library’s guide to the exhibit at http://hvcc.libguides.com/lincoln. I invite you to include the exhibit and related activities in your syllabi. Some additional campus activities are planned and will be announced in the Chronicle.
Take a 10-minute video walk-through to learn more about the exhibit: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hNVUPM5SOg. The impressive display shown in the video will be right here in the the library!
Keynote speaker Dr. Paul Finkelman will be on campus on Tuesday, Jan. 29, for a 50-minute presentation at 11 a.m. There will be a reception immediately afterward to officially open the exhibit in the Marvin Library Learning Commons. All are welcome to these events.
Dr. Finkelman will be available at 1 p.m. to meet with a class, a student club or some other college group. Please let me know if you wish to arrange for time with him; he is a world-renowned legal historian and regularly presents to students, K-12 teachers and the public. That is the only hour on his schedule available.

Have a restful break!
