Lyme disease discussion on Friday

Lyme disease – what’s new?
Join our discussion this Friday, Nov. 16t at 1pm in the Hudson Hall Conference room, Room 130. Bring your lunch.

This discussion group is not limited to people who have been diagnosed with Lyme disease. Many people have not been properly diagnosed and may, in fact, have Lyme disease. If you, or someone you know, has unexplained symptoms and Lyme disease is suspected, you are welcome to join the group. Almost all of the participants were not properly diagnosed the first time and may offer some ideas and information that might help you.

As we know, Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases are increasing in this area, and many people living with Lyme and co-infections are often misdiagnosed. In some cases, in spite of efforts to find adequate medical help, people left untreated could become severely disabled from this disease. The varying symptoms of Lyme disease can make proper diagnosis elusive and the tests and treatments have become very controversial within the medical community.  Since the identification, understanding and treatments of Lyme disease are sources of great confusion to many medical professionals, it is no wonder many patients and their families are confused.
