March for Science in Albany is this weekend!

The Albany March for Science will be this Saturday, April 22nd from noon to 4 p.m. at the Empire State Plaza. This is going to be an incredible event! We expect a very large crowd (2,000 to 5,000 people). The march is a non-political gathering of support for the value of science to our society and to help reinforce the idea that science is done by real people and it benefits real people — people who live all around us.

Schedule

  • 1-2:30 p.m. — Family friendly science activities and informational tables (including science experiments from local college clubs)
  • 2:30-3:15 p.m. — Rally at the West Steps
  • 3:15-4:00 p.m. — March around the Capitol building and the surrounding neighborhood

You can park under the plaza in the visitor parking and walk over to the Capitol building.

People will begin arriving at 1 p.m. and the activity tables will go on until about 3:15 when the march begins; speakers will begin at 2:30.  We have permission to use the Hudson Valley Community College banner, so those marching may carry it with them if they would like.

Preparation

  • Parking information: https://ogs.ny.gov/BU/BA/Parking/Visitor/
  • Bathrooms: In the concourse, open through the Abrams/Justice Building.
  • Make sure you dress in layers and bring and food and / or water since none will be available.
