Marvin Library Learning Commons’ New Atrium Dedication This Morning!

All employees are invited to attend a ceremony at 9 a.m. today naming the atrium of the newly renovated Marvin Library Learning Commons for The Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation in recognition of it $50,000 grant to the college.

Marvin Library Learning Commons renovations were begun in late spring and completed this past fall in an effort to increase student-use space. With physical book collections replaced by technology, additional library space was given over to the atrium as a social space where students can talk with friends, relax and get refreshments from the newly-opened café. The grant money provided for the purchase of furnishings for the atrium, which has seen markedly increased usage by students.

Other areas of the library are dedicated to silent study and research or collaborative space where students quietly work together.

Opening remarks will be given by President Drew Matonak. He will be joined by Foundation Board Chairman Gordon Zuckerman ’62 and Foundation Executive Director Ray Kimmelblatt.

Attending the ceremony for the Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation are Daniel J. Hogarty Jr., president of the board; Dr. Michael E. Fleming, board member; and Leslie A. Cheu, executive director.
