McDonough Swings Into Softball Record Book

 

The softball team’s (19-7) breakout season has been led behind the strong offensive attack of the Vikings.

Molly McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) has had a record-setting season for the Vikings overtaking the number one overall spot in Viking history for hits in a single-season with 58. McDonough is currently first in the nation with a .659 batting average and is ranked sixth in Region III with 34 RBIs.

Natalie Triano (Colonie/Albany) isn’t far behind McDonough as she ranks ninth in the nation with a .550 average and is ranked in the Top 25 nationally with 35 RBIs. Lori Pelersi (Bethlehem/Albany) is currently ranked fourth in Region III, batting a .539 and Kate Brown (Colonie/Colonie) is tied for second in the region with five home runs.

The Vikings have three of the top four batters in Region III along with two ranking in the Top Ten nationally.

The women close the regular season Saturday at home against Mohawk Valley at 1 p.m.
