The college community is invited to a “Meet and Greet” Reception at the Capital South Campus Center (CSCC), located at 20 Warren Street in Albany, from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30.
The event is designed to introduce Hudson Valley Community College as the new program delivery partner at the Albany Housing Authority property. The college was awarded the right to manage the facility after successful submission of its request for proposal (RFP). The agreement went into effect Aug. 1.
The building becomes the new home for the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center’s Albany Center for Education (ACE), previously located on Russell Road in Albany. There are multiple plans to utilize the space for credit course work, workforce development, and for community partnerships. The immediate offerings include: general equivalency diploma (GED) classes and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.
Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, Derek Johnson, a member of the Albany Common Council, and Chiquita D’Arbeau, executive director of the Albany Housing Authority, will offer remarks.
