Men’s Basketball Team Holds Off Late Schenectady Run

A big second half sparked the men’s basketball team (13-13) over Schenectady Community College (12-12), 85-76, on Tuesday night.

The Vikings fell behind by six at the break after a slow start, but kept it close enough where they were in striking distance. Momentum swung to open the half as Hudson Valley opened up an eight-point lead in the first 10 minutes. Schenectady pulled within two points late in the game, but the Vikings held off the late rally.

Anthony Robustiano (Mohonasen/Rotterdam) had a team-high 23 points and Kalik Parker (Ragsdale/Jamestown, NC) added 19 points and 10 rebounds. Parker scored 14 of his 19 points in the first ten minutes of the second half helping the Vikings gain the lead. De’Von Beaufort (Peekskill/Peekskill) scored 16 of his 18 points coming off the bench in the second half. Beufort came in and made key buckets and timely steals late in the game to help capture the victory.

The Vikings will close the regular season this Friday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. at Columbia-Greene Community College.
