Astrid Fuentes-Dimas is the Student Senate President and has joined the Middle States Working Group for Standard IV — Support of the Student Experience. Readers of the Chronicle will recall the great speech this student-leader delivered at the All-College Meeting!
At HVCC, we have a culture of assessment. Astrid is currently developing a Student Senate Self-Assessment instrument. She is looking at what our sister colleges have done so we can modify it to our purposes. We will definitely also use the student surveys currently in use. Self assessment, similar to what our Board of Trustees does, includes measuring what we say we are doing and using that data to inform policy changes.
It will be great to have her perspective. Astrid will be working with other accomplished and caring college colleagues: co-chairs Matt Howe and Gayle Healy and team members Adam Sopris, Ian LaChance, Fred Aliberti, Kailey Loucks, Aimee Bastian, Doreen McGreevy, Beth Kane, Kimberly Williams, Julie Panzanaro, Lisandra Williams, Casey Lensink, MaryKate Kraus, Liz Yanoff, as well as Alfredo Balarin who we are also welcoming to Team Four.
