Middle States monitoring report now available

As President Matonak mentioned in his spring 2015 All College Meeting remarks, members of the college community have been working to address the concerns raised by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education when they visited the campus last spring as part of the reaccreditation process. While the college met 13 of the 14 Standards for accreditation, it did not meet Standard 7, Institutional Assessment.

As a result, Middle States requested that the college submit “a monitoring report, due March 1, 2015, documenting that the institution has achieved and can sustain compliance with Standard 7, including but not limited to the development and implementation of a comprehensive, organized, and sustained process for the assessment of institutional effectiveness with evidence that results are used to improve teaching and learning (Standard 7).”

The monitoring report has been submitted to Middle States and is available for review on the “Middle States News” portal in Blackboard. Please take a moment to take a look at it.

On March 12, a small team from Middle States will be on campus to assess the college’s progress in meeting the Institutional Assessment Standard. The team will write a report of their findings and recommendations, and in June 2015 the Middle States Commission will decide whether to take the college off warning and reaffirm reaccreditation.

I would like to thank everyone at the college who worked on the monitoring report and the Institutional Effectiveness Plan. It was a great deal of work, and I greatly appreciate all your efforts.
