The Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness (AIE) Committee met on Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. The meeting minutes are as follows:
Dr. Geehan opened the meeting at 1 p.m. and provided an update on Nuventive training. There will be training offered in the Gunther training room for those responsible for updating Unit and Assessment Plans. The next meeting with representatives from Nuventive is Thursday, Nov. 14 if anyone from the Assessment Committee would like to attend.
Dr. Geehan discussed the surveys we conduct and the responses we received. She reminded the committee that we need to provide Middle States updates in all committees and department meetings. Discussion began on the Middle States Committee. The process of appointing co-chairs is under way. There will be chairs and co-chairs for each of the seven standards. Dr. Geehan developed a timeline.
Dr. Geehan asked the committee if we should consider bringing back the Enrollment Committee. Committee discussed. It is recommended to form a committee with a Strategic Enrollment Plan.
The committee discussed gaps in the college’s assessment efforts. For example, assessment should be done for initiatives such as New Student Orientation, as well as the GAP program, among other college initiatives. College-wide committees need to periodically assess themselves, reviewing charge, etc. A suggestion was made to hold training sessions for those who serve on committees to provide awareness of work that gets done within committees.
The meeting was adjourned at 2 p.m.
