On Oct. 12, Mortuary Science Students were fortunate to attend a seminar presented by Siena College Professor Carla J. Sofka, Ph.D., MSW, at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Her topic was “Thanatology and Coping with Loss: Things for Mortuary Science Students to Consider.”
Following the presentation and lunch, the students toured the St. Agnes Cemetery grounds, including a public and private mausoleum, and also were invited to visit the crematorium and chapel at the Albany Rural Cemetery.
We were grateful to have this learning opportunity for our students and to connect with the community.
