Natasha Anthony publishes another textbook

Natasha Anthony, an associate professor in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, recently published the book, “Teaching Children Online,” co-authored with Carla Meskill of SUNY Albany.

“The textbook answers questions such as ‘what does best practice in online education look like?’ and is written with experienced teachers, novice educators and teacher educators in mind,” according to an announcement from Multilingual Matters/Channel View Publications. “Meskill and Anthony offer a wealth of examples of what successful online teaching looks like, and provide a rich source of practical, conversation-based strategies for optimizing online learning. This book will inspire anyone teaching or planning to teach fully online, or in a blended or hybrid format, by demonstrating how well constructed online conversations constitute powerful teaching.”

Anthony is director of the International Language Laboratory and teaches Russian here at Hudson Valley Community College. She designs and teaches online Russian courses, as well as online graduate courses in Education. Her research focuses on Computer Assisted Language Learning.

Meskill is professor in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice at the University at Albany. Her research and teaching explore new forms of technology use in language education and professional development, and the influences of new technologies on evolving language and literacy practices.

The two also collaborated to write “Teaching Languages Online” (Multilingual Matters, 2015), which is now in its 2nd edition.

“Teaching Children Online” is available at Amazon.com. or through the publisher.
