National Grid Electric Worker Scholarship
Deadline to apply: July 10, 2023 3 p.m. Central Time

National Grid has established a scholarship program to assist those who self-identify as Female, Black or African-American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander (of any gender), who plan to continue their education in the Electrical Construction and Maintenance or Overhead Electric Line Worker programs at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York.

Applicants to the National Grid Electric Worker Scholarship must:

  • Self-identify as Black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander (any gender).
    OR
  • Self-identify as female (any race/ethnicity).
    AND
  • Be current high school seniors or have a high school diploma or individuals who have received their GED.
  • Plan to enroll in part-time or full-time at Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC)* in Troy, New York for the upcoming academic year** to obtain one of the following:
    Electrical Construction Maintenance (AOS) Degree; or
    Overhead Electric Line Worker Certificate

Academic requirements for HVCC

Technical Standards
The academic program entrance requirements are:

  • Algebra or 1 unit of academic math (70 or above in the course).
  • Additional math courses are recommended.
  • High school overall average of 70 or above.
