At its Oct. 23 meeting, the college’s Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Karen Ferrer-Muñiz as Dean of Retention and Instructional Support Services, effective immediately. Formerly an Associate Dean, Karen is charged with significantly expanding and improving student retention efforts as well as academic support services to increase persistence and completion.
Karen will continue to oversee the library and related services, learning centers, Collegiate Academic Support Program and Center for Academic Engagement while collaborating with academic deans, department chairs, and enrollment management and student services administrators to plan and implement strategies to boost student success.
Also at the Board meeting, Dr. Michael Green was commended for his service to the college, following his recent retirement announcement. Plans to recognize him and reorganize areas he oversees will be shared in early November. I will communicate those and any other organizational changes via the Campus Chronicle as they become available.
