Denise Potenza joins the Hudson Valley Community College coaching staff as the head Women’s Tennis coach for the 2011 season, bringing with her a wealth of experience.
“We are very excited to have Denise join the Athletics Department. Her experience and knowledge of tennis will allow her to be successful here and to build a solid foundation for our tennis program,” said Kristan Pelletier, director of athletics.
Potenza was the number one and number two singles and doubles player at Marist College and SUNY Cortland. She has been a United States Tennis Association (USTA) player for more than 20 years, having played on the USTA women’s and mixed doubles teams. Last year, Potenza’s USTA rating went from a 4.0 to a 4.5.
Potenza graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Cortland and a master’s degree in school counseling from the College of Saint Rose. She currently serves as a family worker/counselor for Oak Hill School in Scotia.
