New Interim Leaders in Division of Academic Affairs

The college has promoted two college leaders, Marcy Pendergast and Deb Shoemaker, to new and interim positions within the Division of Academic Affairs.

Marcy Pendergast is now the interim dean for Learning Assistance Centers and the Library, responsible for oversight of the college’s library services, Learning Centers and academic support offices, such as the Center for Academic Engagement. She was hired in 2019 as director of the college’s Learning Centers and later promoted to associate dean. Prior to her work at the Hudson Valley, she was the director of the Academic Success Center at The College of Saint Rose. Marcy continues to report to Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Ronalyn Wilson, and her new position includes responsibilities previously assigned to former library director Jean-Paul Orgeron.

Deb Shoemaker is now the interim executive dean of Workforce, Community and High School Partnerships, an office that again reports to Academic Affairs. She is responsible for the institution’s specialized workforce training offerings, high school programs and non-credit community courses. Deb has served in various leadership capacities since joining the college three decades ago. Most recently she served as the associate dean of Educational Partnerships and previously as the director of Community and Professional Education for more than 13 years. Deb also reports to Ronalyn Wilson, and her new position includes responsibilities previously assigned to former interim vice president of Workforce Development and Community Education Denise Fernandez-Pallozzi.

Please join me in thanking them for their service and leadership and congratulating them on their promotions.
