New video conference room offers expanded supplemental instruction opportunities

Would you like to record an introduction video or topic-specific video module for your online class? Do you cover a certain topic in which students may need a little extra help? Maybe office hours or tutoring sessions via video conference is the answer. Ever thought about teaching to high school students through the College in the High School Program?

Instructional Technologies recently implemented a new videoconference room, located in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center (room 1083), to help you do just that!

The recently-converted office space provides users with High Definition recording and video conference capabilities.

A user-friendly touch panel that controls the HD camera, PC and document camera allows seamless user control for recording video and content sources connected to the system.

Below is a short video illustrating how easy it is to create a recording.

Recording a Video

There are three recording options that this room is capable of.  Please watch the following video to help illustrate the examples.

The room is fully supported by staff from the Video Conference Operation Center to help familiarize you with the technology and recording process.

The Video Conference Operation Center, located in BTC 247, is part of Instructional Technologies Department, and manages all aspects of video conference connectivity and support to the 26+ high schools and 300 students across New York State currently participating the ITV section of the College in the High School Program.

In addition, the Video Conference Operations Center provides extensive video conferencing support for the college’s Board of Trustees’ meetings, new hire interviews, as well as Viking Video Technologies’ clients including SUNY Administration, Empire State Development, and Northeastern Seminary to name a few.
