Action for Happiness – November 2020
The staff in Counseling and Wellness Services hopes everyone has had a great first half of the Fall 2020 semester!
Counseling and Wellness Services staff members are available Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (via phone or Zoom sessions) for counseling, consultation, and referral needs of currently registered students, but we wanted to share additional virtual resources that may be beneficial during this time.
Action for Happiness is a movement of people committed to building a happier and more caring society. The movement promotes a way of life in which people care less about what they can get just for themselves and more about the happiness of others.

Please visit the Action for Happiness website for more information and resources.

Action for Happiness has created monthly action calendars (see below) that “are packed with actions you can take to help create a happier and kinder world.” Each month, Counseling and Wellness Services will highlight these action calendars to facilitate a happier and kinder state of being for our campus community. The month of November focuses on Trying Out, based on the Key of Direction from the 10 Keys to a Happier Life.

COVID-19 is restricting our lives, but we can find new ways to keep making progress. Trying out new things can actually boost our well-being. When we open up to new ideas, it helps us stay curious and engaged. It can also bring a sense of accomplishment and help to boost our self-confidence and resilience.

Keep Learning New Things
This month, we’re encouraging everyone to find new and creative ways to overcome our frustrating situations by trying something new and/or learning something new.
There are many ways to learn new things — not just through formal qualifications. We can share a skill with friends, join a club, learn to sing, play a new sport and so much more.

We encourage you all to “Try New Things” this month and to shake things up!
Wishing you all a happy and healthy “New Things November!”
