Note of thanks

Thank you, Nancy

I do not like the internet. I despise all social media. Until two weeks ago, I did not have the internet or WiFi at home. I have always been a “talk and chalk” teacher and never thought I would ever have to learn how to teach a course online.

The last two weeks have been some of the most stressful in my recent memory. But I’m reminded that there are many going through far greater stress than I, and I am humbled by their courage and perseverance.

That it is why I wanted to make this public statement of gratitude to my online mentor, Nancy Howe, a professor in the Department of History, Philosophy and Social Sciences. I would not have been able to finish my classes without her help. Her knowledge of the technology and more important her never ending kindness and patience have been a godsend to me.

I know I am not the only techno idiot on our campus and I believe I speak for many of my fellow “talk and chalk” professors when I say thank you to Nancy and all our volunteer mentors for helping us during this critical time.
