All are welcome to join the Friends of Oakwood and Veterans of Lansingburgh on Saturday, May 25 for a Memorial Day Ceremony at Oakwood Cemetery, off Oakwood Avenue in Troy. The ceremony begins promptly at 9 a.m. with the ringing of the Meneely Bell near the Earl Chapel.
Nikki Osterhout will sing the National Anthem and Father Desmond Francis will offer the Invocation and Benediction. Master of Ceremonies Michael Barrett and Jim Pratt of the Veterans Miracle Center will speak, followed by the annual wreath laying and placement of flags at the Soldiers’ Plot.
The Oakwood Cemetery is a non-sectarian, not-for-profit cemetery founded in 1848 and still active today. For information, call (518) 272-7520.
