Organizational and personnel changes announced

 

The college’s Board of Trustees were apprised of several organizational changes and promotions for college personnel at its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

— Effective June 1, Dr. Patricia Klimkewicz becomes the Interim Dean of Health Sciences, replacing Dr. Carol Bosco who retired after 17 years of service. Dr. Klimkewicz, has worked at the college since 2000 and is currently a professor of Nursing. She was acting Department Chair of Nursing from Aug. 2015 to Dec. 2016.

— Effective Sept. 3, the college’s academic departments will be organized within three schools: Business and Liberal Arts led by Dean Fabian Vega; Health Sciences led by Interim Dean Patricia Klimkewicz; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) led by Interim Dean Jonathan Ashdown.

As such, the following changes are occurring:

  • The Health, Physical Education and Exercise Studies department and its programs will become part of the School of Health Sciences.
  • In response to accreditation requirements, Surgical Technology will be designated as a new academic department within the School of Health Sciences and led by Interim Department Chair Shawn Jeune.
  • The School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) will include the following departments and its programs: Automotive, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering Technologies; Biology, Chemistry, and Physics; Building Systems Technology; Civil, Construction, Industrial and Mechanical Technologies; Computing and Information Sciences; and Math and Engineering Science. The college will search for an associate dean of STEM as well, reporting to Interim Dean Ashdown.

— Following Jim Slavin’s resignation earlier this month, the college is now searching for an Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs. The application period for the position closes on June 16.

The following appointments are effective immediately:

— Kathy Petley is the Executive Director for Institutional Effectiveness, overseeing the Offices of Assessment, Grants Development and Planning and Research. The position reflects the college’s increased focus on data informed decision making, use of enrollment management analytics in strategy development as well as grant fundraising for institutional priorities. In addition, the college will begin a search for a Director of Strategic Planning this summer to report to Kathy and coordinate projects related to the new Strategic Plan.

— Ian LaChance is appointed to the position of Registrar on a permanent basis after serving in an interim capacity.

— Regina LaGatta has received a title change and is now the Executive Director of External and Government Affairs, responsible for overseeing special projects and initiatives on behalf of the president, including the college’s new focus on international partnerships as well as college advancement and the Foundation. A search will begin in June for a new director of the Foundation/Chief Advancement Officer to report to Regina.

— Karen Paquette was promoted to Executive Director of Human Resources. She has joined the Executive Team with an increased administrative role in talent management and succession at the college. Deb Richey is now the Director of Human Resources and responsible for the oversight of daily office operations.
