Parslow throws perfect game

The Vikings’ Charles Parslow threw a perfect game Saturday afternoon to shutout Jefferson Community College (25-16) in the second game of a doubleheader. The baseball team (16-11)  lost the first game, 8-5, but came back and shut out the Cannoneers in game two.

Parslow (Fonda-Fultonville/Fonda) threw a perfect game to shutout Jefferson, 10-0, in five innings due to the mercy rule. Fifteen batters came up and 15 were sent down, as Parslow never issued a hit or walk, striking out six on the afternoon. Earlier in the season, he threw a complete game one-hitter against Jefferson in his first collegiate start and now improves to 5-0 on the season. Statistically, Jefferson is the top hitting team in the Region entering today’s games. The Vikings jumped out to an early lead scoring five runs in the first and four in the second. John Craig (Shenedehowa/Clifton Park) led the offensive attack with two doubles and four RBIs.

The Vikings rallied late in game one, scoring three runs in the seventh but fell just short. Mike Sunkes (Catholic Central/Waterford) led the team with three hits and an RBI, and Alex Lushkevich (Saratoga/Saratoga Springs) went 2-2 with two walks and a run scored in the loss.

The Vikings traveled to Clinton Sunday for noon doubleheader.
