On May 23, Governor Kathy Hochul announced the launch of the Prison Redevelopment Commission focused on reimagining closed prisons for innovative redevelopment opportunities across New York State.
Penny Hill, the college’s dean of Economic Development and Workforce Initiatives, was appointed to the 15-member panel, led by Hope Knight, president and CEO of Empire State Development, and Darren Walker, president at the Ford Foundation. Governor Hochul first announced plans for the commission, to be comprised of leading experts across real estate, community and economic development, criminal justice reform and government, during her 2022 State of the State address.
