The Center for Effective Teaching, under the leadership of Chris Helwig, Caelynn Prylo, Tara Farley and Vonnie Vannier, worked throughout 2010-2011 to create a variety of professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
In round numbers, 400 people took advantage of some 64 workshops. About the same number visited the Faculty Resource Room, many taking advantage of the 150 hours of assistance provided by the faculty mentors Tony Podlaski, Milt Connors, Marianne Belles, Jaime Barrett, Kyra Garrigue, Michael Such and Mary Beth Farr.
Seven people earned certificates in Teaching and Learning and Leadership Development and three people earned certificates of appreciation for their work for the Teach It Forward program. (See Chronicle archive at right.)
Planning for next year begins with a meeting of the New Faculty Orientation Committee this week.
The CET would like to thank the mentors, all those who taught classes, attended workshops, volunteered their time and generally participated to make professional development at Hudson Valley so vibrant and exemplary. We would especially like to thank the Campus Chronicle for helping us publicize our programs.
The Center for Effective Teaching has had a busy year!
