Often, when we think about Giving Tuesday we think, “where can I donate money?” or “where can I donate goods?”
Well, in the spirit of Giving Tuesday, Phi Theta Kappa members thought “where can I help immediately?” The answer was easy: at The Northeastern Regional Food Bank.
On Monday, Nov. 30, PTK volunteers helped sort fresh fruits and vegetables that would be delivered the next day — Giving Tuesday — to people in need. The students were delighted when the coordinators at the food bank told them, “imagine, that piece of fruit you are holding right now will be in the hands of a hungry child tomorrow!” When we think of giving to those in need, let’s think outside the box. Let’s give our time, our energy, our compassion. There is no monetary value to that necessarily, but it’s impact is just as important, and that should be our inspiration.
