Phi Theta Kappa members volunteer at Regional Food Bank

Members of the college’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society volunteered at the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY in Latham, NY on June 29.

With the extremely hot weather conditions this summer, there has been an increased demand for water and other drinks to keep cool. Fortunately, the food bank recently received  large donations of bottled water, energy drinks, sodas and fruit juices.

Volunteers first inspected the containers for quality and then sorted them into different categories. Water bottles were separated into groups based on sizes and carbonatation level. Fruit juices were separated into groups based on amount of juice content. No alcoholic beverages were accepted for distribution. The drinks were then packed into boxes and labeled to be sent to various local charities the next day.

The PTK volunteers took this opportunity to help the community, one of the core values of Phi Theta Kappa. With its purpose of developing leadership and service, the honor society promotes academic excellence and fellowship for all its members. This is why members are proud to say #IAMPTK!
