Phi Theta Kappa members volunteer at Regional Food Bank

Members of the Hudson Valley Community College chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society volunteered at the Northeastern Regional Food Bank in Latham on October 28th.

This was a great opportunity for PTK members to help, especially in times of high food insecurity throughout the region. In just the past year, the Northeastern Regional Food Bank served over 386,000 different people in the community.

The volunteers sorted through hundreds of packages of frozen meats including beef, chicken, sausage, turkey, and chicken. First, they carefully inspected the packages for quality and expiration dates, then sorted them into their respective categories, and finally boxed and weighed them for distribution. The packed boxes were then placed into a large refrigerated truck and delivered to various charity organizations for immediate distribution.

The PTK members took this opportunity to help the community, one of the core values of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. With its purpose of developing leadership and service, Phi Theta Kappa promotes academic excellence and fellowship for all its members. This is why members are proud to say #IAMPTK.
