Pie Making Demonstration — sign up deadline is Nov. 18

The Capital District Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is hosting a Pie Making Demonstration Night to promote its new Baking & Pastry Arts program. The instructor will demonstrate the elements of pie making and decorating, such as lattice work and cutouts.

This event is Tuesday, Nov. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the EOC (431 River St, Troy). It is open to individuals ages 18 or older who want to impress friends and family over the holidays or may know someone interested in the fields of baking and pastry arts.

About the Baking & Pastry Arts Program: The Baking & Pastry Arts program was introduced in Fall 2022 to expand the Culinary Arts program at the EOC. The course aims to teach students the elements of baking that are needed for a career as a baker or pastry chef. This includes mixing techniques and methods, baking temperatures, portion amounts, assorted leavening agents, quick breads and yeast breads, specialty cakes and desserts, icings, frostings, toppings, pastry fillings, decorating, and more
