The Athletics Department and the college community have come together to organize a fundraising effort for men’s basketball student-athlete, Justus Simon, on Saturday, Feb. 3 (Spirit Day) during the women’s and men’s basketball games against Schenectady starting at noon.
Justus was recently diagnosed with cancer and his teammates and coaches are raising money for the Simon family to help with medical bills and treatment.
Justus, a business administration major, was in the first semester of his freshman season with the men’s basketball team. Simon played in 11 games and started twice for the Vikings during the fall semester and averaged 5.9 points per game.
Prior to enrolling at Hudson Valley, Simon attended Green Tech high school where he played two years of varsity basketball and track and field.
