Please make safety an important priority

Local news and social media outlets reported on an emergency situation yesterday at The Sage Colleges in Troy that required a college lock down and cancellation of classes.

The Troy Police Department stated they responded to a report of an intruder in the college’s Slocum dormitory when officers heard a noise that sounded similar to a gunshot. It was later determined that the sound was a heavy door slamming shut. Troy Police lifted the lock down and classes resumed in the evening.

While this situation proved to be less serious than originally reported by the media and individuals on social media, it’s another reminder for us to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to Public Safety. Also, please refer to the Public Safety’s web page for information about ongoing safety measures (i.e. escort service), policies and procedures.

Thank you,
Fred Aliberti
Director of Public Safety
