Poetry Out Loud event available at Instructional Media Center

Hudson Valley Community College’s Bulmer Telecommunication Center was the site of the New York State Poetry Out Loud State Finals on Tuesday, March 4. This event brought together dozens of high school poets from across the state.

If you are interested in viewing the competition, a DVD is available in the Instructional Media Center, which is located on the first floor of the Marvin library Learning Commons.

Poetry Out Loud, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, is a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance and competition. The program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage.
