On Sunday, Aug. 21, starting at approximately 5 a.m., we will be shutting down all power to the campus to perform the final tie in to the National Grid system. This work will culminate a long project to tie the campus back into the grid.
The campus still will get the majority of its power from the Co Generation plant, but this tie in will give us additional power, stabilize the frequency and voltage, and improve the reliability of the power system.
The power is scheduled to be off for about 12 hours. Physical Plant will bring power back up after the tie in is complete and expects all systems to be ready for Monday. If you plan to be on campus for any reason on Aug. 21, please be aware there will be no power except in the Science Center which is already on National Grid power.
