The fifth annual Pride of Our Nation, Pride of Our College exhibit, displayed each year in memory and honor of veterans and active service personnel associated with Hudson Valley Community College, opens Tuesday, Nov. 10.
All are welcome to attend the opening reception at 5 p.m. on the evening preceding Veterans Day in the Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Atrium of the Marvin Library Learning Commons.
Each year, students, faculty and staff are invited to submit materials — photographs, medals, artifacts, ephemera and personal items — along with a brief paragraph about the service person or some aspect of his or her military career. The exhibit continues to grow as new items are collected every year highlighting the courage and sacrifice of ancestors and family members, who served during the Civil War up to and including the present day conflicts in the Middle East.
Pride of Our Nation, Pride of Our College remains on view through Dec. 7. It is open during library hours: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. (The library will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 29 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.)
