From the author

My name is Jalaysha. I am 20 years old. I graduated from HVCC in May of 2020 and I had the best two years of my life there. I wrote this book when I was 17 because I was told I have a talent and that I should share it. I would write about anything that I was going through and that I felt people could resonate with. But when I decided to publish a book, I wanted to enlighten people. Salted Caramel is knowledge, it gives perspective and shows resilience within blackness. The short poetry book offers several perspectives and images that need to be heard. I hope you enjoy what you read and write with your voice as well.
